One of the things I appreciate about living and working in Katy TX is the way it’s growing and expanding to provide an even better way of life for its’ residents.  Recently, I heard about some new developments that will be taking place in Katy TX in 2014 that I’m excited about and sure you will be too!  Take a look at what’s coming to Katy TX!

Bullritos
24441 Katy Fwy Ste 500

– This well-loved Burritos and Tacos restaurant will be coming to Katy in the near future near Katy Mills Mall!   While there are three Bullritos in Houston, this will be the first installment in Katy.  Bullritos is known for it’s fresh and delicious burritos, tacos and tex mex options as well as its easy and unique ordering process!  To learn more about Bullritos, please visit their website.

Trader Joe’s
LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch

– Trader Joe’s is a quickly growing national chain that provides some of the best in fresh, domestic and imported foods at a fraction of the cost.  This specialty store will be opening at LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch, although the exact date and number of jobs this will provide hasn’t yet been announced.  One of the reasons Trader Joe’s is able to cut costs is by purchasing many items from manufacturers instead of distributors.

Trader Joe’s also provides their own line of Trader Joe’s products that are often free from preservatives and other artificial ingredients.  You’ll be able to find everything from your basics like milk and bread to unique, imported items that you can’t find anywhere else!  If Trader Joe’s is new to you, you can always check out their locations in Houston and get excited about the Katy store opening!

As you can see, Katy TX keeps growing and adding great features for its residents!

Fort Bend County Expanding Due to Growth!

Fort Bend County is on the move with continuing growth in its’ communities.  As Katy TX and the surrounding cities experience an ever growing population, new businesses and an increasingly attractive quality of life; Fort Bend County is seeking to keep up!

While this is great news, it also means that expansion is necessary in many areas, which includes our roads and highways.  The county is finding that in order to handle the increased traffic and keep our roads safe, construction is vital.

In fact, an expansion of the Westpark Tollway has been in the works for a few years with  behind the scenes with surveys, engineering, mapping reports and other TXDot requirements.  Widening this road from two to four lanes where the tollway becomes FM 1093 will help with the congestion and the possibility of stopping the growth of the county.

In 2004, when the tollway opened, it did its job in taking some of the traffic off of I-10.  Yet, the Westpark Tollway was quickly at capacity and has been needing an expansion for some time now.  Fulshear Mayor Tommy Kuykendall noted that, “Between growth in the subdivisions and communities west of Fulshear, expasion of FM 1093 has become a priority for the city.”

The project is expected to cost around $60 million with the county contributing $10 million and the Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority taking car of $40-50 million.  The Fort Bend County Commissioner Any Meyers said that “the county will eventually recoup their share of the costs through property taxes from development that occurs from more territory being opened up with the expanded road.”  To learn more about the project, construction estimates and more; please visit the Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority website.

As a Katy TX Real Estate agent, I find it’s important to bring you the latest news and updates on, not only the Katy TX Real Estate market, but what’s happening in the community as well.  Buying a home is so much more than the four walls you call “home.”  It also consists of finding a community and lifestyle that fits your needs and wants, and I can attest that Katy TX is a great place to live!

If you have questions about the Katy TX Real Estate market or you’re interested in learning more about the lifestyle in Katy TX; please feel free to contact me today!

As Katy, TX real estate agents, there is nothing that we love more than seeing our city grow! That’s why, whenever there is a new business in the area, we go out of our way to announce it to the world, (or our blog, in this case). As the real estate and community resource for Katy, TX, our team makes it a priority to be aware of all business openings, closings, town events and pressing news for the community. It’s just one more way that we go above and beyond for you. That way, when someone who has recently relocated to Katy, TX asks us what’s happening in the area, we know exactly what to tell them. It also gives us even more fabulous town features to include in our pitch when we show homes for sale to potential buyers!

In the past few weeks, a couple new businesses have announced their opening to the Katy, TX community. In order to achieve our goal of always keeping our community informed, we thought that we’d tell you a little bit more about each of these businesses.

Hungry? If there’s one thing that Texas does correctly, it is Mexican food. This clearly has something to do with our close proximity to the border. You can’t find Mexican cuisine so good anywhere else, and we’re proud of that! Now, there’s yet another place that you can go to enjoy tacos and fajitas right here in Katy, TX! El Asador Mexican Restaurant, which just opened, is located at 3750 South Mason Road and has a menu that includes amazing lunch and dinner specials. From tacos to enchiladas to a scrumptious sounding burrito, you can find a variety of delicious Mexican specialties that will keep you coming back for more! You’ll also find a full bar menu that will allow you to enjoy a few cocktails with your meal. One of our favorite features is the “Fiesta Pack to Go”, which is perfect if you’re throwing a party out of your home. We think that it’s worth a visit, and we also think that once you go, you will want to go back. Give it a try and let us know what you think!

If you’re looking for some family-friendly fun, then you’re in luck! Main Event Entertainment is set to open its newest location in Katy, TX in late 2012. This brand-new facility will feature everything that other Main Event Entertainment locations have and more. Dining options and a full-service bar will only make you want to stay a little bit longer. We’re incredibly excited for this new “fun” zone to come to Katy, and we’re going to be keeping our eyes peeled for opening day!

As your Katy, TX real estate and community experts, we feel that it’s incredibly important to keep our clients in the loop about what’s happening around town. Katy is a city located in Harris, Fort Bend and Waller Counties in the U.S. state of Texas, within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area. The population was 11,775 at the 2000 census.

Katy, suburb of Houston, Texas, is named for the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad (commonly referred to as the "K-T Railroad", now a part of Union Pacific) that ran through Katy in the 19th century. Katy was once known as Cane Island. The name is derived from Cane Island Creek which runs just west of downtown. Cane Creek is a branch of Buffalo Bayou. The origins of the name Cane Island are believed to be from the fact that Katy was once a major sugar cane producer and rice producer. To commermorate the importance of rice to the Katy community, the Chamber of Commerce holds the Rice Harvest Festival every second weekend of October.

Katy was recently the location of one of the ten large red balloons in the DARPA Network Challenge on December 5, 2009. The balloon was stationed in Katy Park.

In 2009 the Gadberry Group named Katy as one of nine "9 from 2009" most notable high growth areas in the United States.
After a low income apartment complex was proposed for development in an adjacent unincorporated area, in 2010 the Katy City Council passed a resolution stating that the development would decrease property values.[5] The plans for the complex were canceled.
