Katy Times: The Freedom Pavilion will be located between the four baseball fields and measure 60 feet in diameter and 25-30 feet tall. It will feature a five-point star base with a column honoring the five branches of military services and a plaque honoring the victims of 9/11. The project is a joint effort between the Rotary Clubs of Katy and Houston Skyline, the Museum of Cultural Arts Houston and Fort Bend County Precinct 3 Commissioner Andy Meyer’s Office with the support of the Katy VFW Post 9182 and Katy Independent School District teachers and students.
Commemorative bricks will be used at the base of the plaza to honor veterans. Bricks can be purchased for $100 for a 4×8 or $350 for an 8×8.
