This Saturday is the 4th of July in Katy! Do you know where or how you’ll be celebrating? This is a great holiday for hosting a barbecue or pool party at your Katy home, but it’s also a great opportunity to get out and enjoy events and activities happening around town. Fortunately, in Katy, you have two options for watching a traditional fireworks display! There is also lots of entertainment available for kids and the whole family.
As your Katy real estate agent, I’ve summarized the details of two events happening around Katy for the 4th of July. Choose one, or swing by both, and enjoy your holiday!
The City of Katy collaborates with the Katy Fire Department, Katy Heritage Society and Heritage Park, VFW Lodge and Park and Katy Parks and Recreation to host a full day of events and activities all over town!
Gather the family and head to VFW Park between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. for bounce houses, games, soft serve ice cream and cotton candy. While the kids play, adults can bet on live and silent auction items, all benefitting VFW Lodge. There will also be visits from US Army and Marine representatives, vehicle extrications and more. When you get hungry, you can purchase a BBQ plate lunch.
Over at the Fire Station, your family can enjoy firehouse tours, water hose playtime and free hot dogs. In front of the Heritage homes, enjoy sipping on lemonade and taking family photos.
When evening arrives, head to Katy Mills Mall for the fireworks show! They will be launched from the grassy area between the mall and Katy Fort Bend Road. Katy Mills is open until 9 p.m., so get there early for dinner or shopping, and then hang out in your chairs or on blankets until the show, which begins at 9:30 p.m.
LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch’s Independence Day Celebration
LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch will have an Independence Day Celebration from 4:30 to 9:45 p.m. it begins with a Kids Patriotic Bike Parade at Central Green Park. Kids can participate by decorating their bikes with patriotic colors and décor beforehand, and then arriving at LaCenterra’s Courtyard at 4 p.m. Prizes will be given for having the most patriotic bikes. No pre-registration is required!
After the parade, live musical performances begin at 5:30 p.m. in the courtyard with Sheila Marshall and Chris Boss. Kids can enjoy the Kids Zone in Central Green, which includes inflatables, jugglers, stilt walkers, face painting, balloon art, a photo booth and much more. There will be food, such as burgers and hotdogs, to purchase for the whole family, along with beer, wine, soda and water.
The evening will conclude with a grand fireworks display, which will begin approximately at 9:15 p.m. Bring chairs, blankets and bug spray to enjoy the show!
