Yes, it is still 95 degrees. Yes, your pumpkin spice latte is technically an iced drink. Fall officially arrives Tuesday, September 22 at 7:06 PM, at which point Katy will celebrate by remaining exactly the same temperature. This is Katy, and we do fall on faith, not on weather. The good news: the 2026 fall calendar around here is absolutely loaded, and I did the homework so you can just show up.
One warning before we start. Circle October 10 and 11 in ink, because that weekend is a four-way pileup: the Katy Rice Harvest Festival, opening weekend of the Texas Renaissance Festival, Fulshear’s Folly, AND the Korean Festival downtown all land on the same two days. You cannot do them all. I have seen people try. Pick your fighter.
1. Katy Rice Harvest Festival, October 10-11
The crown jewel, and it is not close. Historic Downtown Katy fills up with live music, a full carnival (it’s back this year!), food trucks, a beer garden, over 100 vendor booths, and kids’ activities, all at the newly redesigned Historic Town Square in front of City Hall. Saturday runs 10am to 10pm, Sunday 12pm to 6pm. And here’s the part that makes me proudest of this town: 100% of net proceeds go right back into the Katy community through scholarships, nonprofits, and charities. You are eating a corn dog for a good cause. You’re welcome.
2. Dewberry Farm, open NOW through November 8
Brookshire’s famous farm opened its Fall Festival on September 12, which means you can beat the October crowds if you go early. The pumpkin patch is Texas-sized, there are 40-plus rides and attractions, and this year’s 8-acre corn maze is Houston Astros themed. Stay past sunset for BOOriffic Nights, when the glowing jack-o-lanterns come out and three haunts open up. Pro tip from a woman who has melted at this farm before: September evenings beat October afternoons every single time.
3. Texas Renaissance Festival, October 10 through November 29
The 52nd season of the nation’s largest Renaissance festival runs Saturdays and Sundays from October 10 through November 29, plus the Friday after Thanksgiving. Heads up for the regulars: that’s a later start than past years, so double-check before you plan your themed weekend. Turkey legs the size of your forearm, jousting, and more velvet than a Vegas lounge. And if you’re wondering where on earth Todd Mission is, you’re not alone: it’s a tiny town in Grimes County up past Magnolia, right next to Plantersville, about an hour north of Katy. Point your GPS at 21778 FM 1774, Todd Mission, TX 77363 and follow the turkey leg smell.
4. Fulshear’s Fall Double Feature
Our neighbors out west are showing off this year. Fulshear’s Folly lands on October 10 (yes, THAT weekend again) with fun for all ages and a kid-friendly zone. Then late October brings the beloved Scarecrow Festival, the chamber tradition with the scarecrow contest, trunk or treat, food trucks, and a kid zone. The 2026 date hadn’t been posted when I wrote this, so keep an eye on the Fulshear chamber’s page. It has historically landed the last weekend of October, and it is free, which is my favorite price.
5. Howl-o-ween at the Katy Dog Park, October 30
Saturday morning, October 30, 9 to 11am at the Katy Off-Leash Dog Park. Dog costume contests. I could end the sentence there and you’d already be sold, but there are also raffle prizes, local vendors, and treats. Entry to the costume contest is a donation of pet food, supplies, or cash for local shelters. If you have ever wanted to see a golden retriever dressed as a taco, and I know you have, this is your moment.
6. Worth the Drive: Houston’s Festival Season
If you’re willing to brave I-10, the city delivers. The Original Greek Festival in Montrose runs October 1-3 with gyros, baklava, folk dancing, and free admission on Friday from 11am to 3pm (that’s the insider move to skip the crowds). The Korean Festival at Discovery Green hits October 10-11 with K-pop dance competitions, drumming, and Korean fried chicken that will ruin all other fried chicken for you. Hop on METRO’s light rail downtown and skip the parking drama entirely.
7. November’s Victory Lap
When the weather finally decides to cooperate, Katy keeps going. The free Community Campout at VFW Park runs overnight November 13-14, and Saturday November 14 brings a vendor market to Historic Town Square from 10am to 2pm, perfect for early holiday shopping from local makers. Sugar Land traditionally rolls out Oktoberfest at Town Square and the Space Cowboys’ Halloween Town at Constellation Field in October too, so watch for their 2026 dates. And Dewberry’s final weekend is November 7-8, your last call for that Astros corn maze.
